A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 7:10 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Councilors Barros, Barry, Chadwick, Hodge, Moran, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – President Kinch.

 

President Pro-Tempore Hodge presides.

 

 

 

THE COUNCIL RECESSES IMMEDIATELY TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE AND TO CONDUCT A MEETING OF THE PAWTUCKET BOARD OF LICENSE COMMISSIONERS:

Doyle, regarding the new deadline to respond to Ms. Gallogy on the city’s financial situation.  The council would like to know what our plan is going to be to eliminate the city’s deficit and if we do not have a plan by the deadline, when do we expect it will be ready?

The clerk is instructed to send a communication to William Mulholland, Superintendent, Pawtucket Parks & Recreation, regarding Councilor Wildenhain’s strong opposition to denying people and organizations the opportunity to volunteer their time to help the city. He believes that eliminating volunteers would hurt the community and therefore, the use of volunteers should not be stopped.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Vitali, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The clerk is instructed to send a communication to William Mulholland, Superintendent, Pawtucket Parks & Recreation, requesting that Mr. Mulholland refrain from sending letters denying anyone the right to volunteer until this matter is heard by the Recreation Committee.

Councilor Wildenhain noted that while the school department is recycling paper at 100%, it is not recycling other materials. The Council is requesting that the School Committee create a committee to look into instituting 100% recycling of all eligible materials throughout the school system in Pawtucket.
