City Council, October 21, 2009
A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 7:06 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – President Kinch, Councilors Barros, Chadwick, Moran, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.
Absent – Councilors Barry and Hodge.
President Kinch presides.
The reading of the records of October 7, 2009 is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.
Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

Petition for SECOND HAND SHOP LICENSE (Class C) of Napoleon Menyongai d/b/a Menyongai New & Used Furniture, 364 Benefit Street, Tax Assessor’s Plat 4, Lot 771, to keep a shop for the purpose of purchasing and selling second hand articles, specifically used furniture, etc, which was advertised for a hearing at this time, is taken up:
Speaking in favor is the applicant, Napoleon Menyongai, 21 Coyle Ave., Pawtucket, RI.
Mr. Menyongai will be buying and reselling used furniture.
He had the same type of business on Main Street in Pawtucket five years ago.
His new store is at the corner of Cottage and Benefit Streets.
There will be no large truck deliveries and no appliances will be at the store.
The hours of operation will be 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday thru Saturday.
All sales will be conducted inside and there will be no repairs.
Councilor Moran is concerned about parking for customers because there is no parking lot.
Also speaking is Brad Langborg, 30 Burke Street, Pawtucket, RI.
Mr. Langborg states that eleven cars can park on the Cottage Street side of Mr. Menyongai’s building.
There are no other speakers.

Speaking in favor is the applicant, Wanda Vasquez, 652 Broadway, Pawtucket, RI.
Ms. Vasquez’ business is located on Broadway, across the street from a church, at the corner of East Street.
Consigners will bring in clothes, up to 20 items. The items will be on consignment for 90 days.
The hours of operation will be 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
Ms. Vasquez has worked at other consignments shops, but this is the first time owning her shop.
There are no other speakers.
