City Council, June 17, 2009
A Special Session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Tuesday, June 17, 2009, at 7:01 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – President Kinch, Councilors Barros, Barry, Chadwick, Hodge, Tetreault, Vitali and **Wildenhain.
Absent – Councilor Moran.
**With approval of the Governor’s Commission on Disabilities, pursuant to RIGL 42-46-5(b)(3 & 4), Councilor Wildenhain will participate via telecommunication devices.
President Kinch presides.
THE COUNCIL RECESSES IMMEDIATELY TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING THE FOLLOWING:
THE AMENDMENTS TO THE ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGET ORDINANCE FY 2009-2010
COUNCILOR MORAN ARRIVES AT 7:13 P.M.
THE COUNCIL RECONVENES AT 7:54 P.M.
The following ordinance is read for the second time as amended and PASSED on a roll call vote, as follows:
AYES – President Kinch, Councilors Barry, Chadwick, Hodge, Moran, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.
NOES – Councilor Barros.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR BARRY.
With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Barry, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote.
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Mayor James E. Doyle notifying him of Councilor Barry’s intent to vigorously oppose any future collective bargaining agreements that do not include at least a 20-25% sliding scale healthcare co-pay and a freeze on longevity.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MORAN.
With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Hodge, to amended Councilor Barry’s letter to Mayor Doyle is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote.
The Clerk is to include in the letter to Mayor James E. Doyle that the same conditions should apply to all non-union employees.
AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCILOR VITALI, COUNCIL PRESIDENT KINCH REQUESTS THAT MICHAEL D. CASSIDY, DIRECTOR OF PLANNING & REDEVELOPMENT, ATTEND A PRE-COUNCIL MEETING ON JUNE 24, 2009, TO UPDATE THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE SALE OF THE DENNIS M. LYNCH ARENA.
Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Barry, the meeting is adjourned at 8:46 p.m.
