A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at seven thirty o’clock p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – President Barry, Councilors Carr, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, and Wildenhain.

Petition for a Second Hand Shop License (Class A- Selling Used Vehicles) by D & D Tire Service Inc., d/b/a Carlos’ D & D Auto Service at 1117 Central Avenue, Tax Assessors Plat 13 Lot 281, to keep a shop for the purpose of purchasing and selling second hand articles, specifically: Used Vehicles, LIC#40281 which was advertised for a hearing at this time is taken up:
Speaking in favor is Attorney Robert Testa, representing the applicant Carlos Moreira.
Mr. Testa states that Mr. Moreira has operated an Auto Repair Shop at this location for the past four years and is asking to sell cars to increase his business.
Mr. Testa also states that there has not been a problem at this location.
Councilor Wildenhain questions Mr. Moreira on where cars are being stored while waiting for repair.
Mr. Moreira states that he can store 4 to 5 cars in the front of the business and that no cars will be parked on the street.
Speaking in opposition is Jeannine Chatigny, owner of Chatigny Funeral Home.
Ms. Chatigny states her concerns with the unkempt conditions of the properties bordering the funeral home, in particular: Dunkin Donuts, Jim’s Auto Body, and the applicants business, Carlos’ D & D Auto Service.
Ms. Chatigny is afraid that additional cars in this area will make matters worse.
