City Council, June 19, 2002

A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at seven eighteen o’clock p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

Present – President Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Hodge, Moran and Wildenhain.

Absent – Councilors Clemente, Grebien, and Hoyas.

President Barry presides.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR BRAY.

Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the City Council enters into executive session at seven eighteen o’clock p.m., pursuant to Section 42-46-5 (A)(2) of the General Laws of Rhode Island regarding pending litigation on a roll call vote, as follows:

AYES - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Hodge, Moran, and Wildenhain.

NOES – 0.

THE COUNCIL RETURNS TO OPEN SESSION AT EIGHT O’CLOCK P.M.

Upon motion made by Councilor Clemente, seconded by Councilor Grebien, the minutes of the City Council meeting held in executive session are sealed on a roll call vote, as follows:

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR GREBIEN.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Grebien, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Angel S. Garcia, Director of Personnel,

requesting that he provide to the City Council, all Personnel Board minutes, Agendas, and any and all pertinent information regarding issues that are forwarded to the City Council for consideration.

Petition for Auto Repair Shop and Second Hand Shop Licenses (Class A & B Selling Used Automobiles & Parts) by Patriot Motor Sales, LLC, (Previously Tom Subaru Incorporated) 939 Newport Avenue, Tax Assessors Plat 16 Lot 359, to keep a shop for the purpose of repairing automobiles and purchasing and selling second hand articles, specifically: used automobiles and parts, LIC#30278 & 40292, which was advertised for a hearing at this time is taken up:

PREVIOUS STIPULATION:

1.  No test driving on the streets in the general area of the schools and the neighborhood.

Speaking in favor is Dale Hermiller, President, Patriot Motor Sales, 2203 Red Maple Road, Troy Michigan.

Upon questioning by Councilor Wildenhain, Mr. Hermiller states that he previously owned a car dealership, and is seeking the opportunity to open a car dealership in Pawtucket. He is aware of the previous stipulation and agreed that it will stay in place.

Mr. Hermiller states that he would like to sell used cars, until he receives his new car dealership license. He has applied to become a Subaru Franchise dealer.

There are no other speakers.

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Hoyas, the following license is APPROVED with the previous STIPULATION on a unanimous voice vote:
