City Council, January 24, 2001
A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at eight thirty-one o’clock p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – President Barry, Councilors Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, Moran, and Wildenhain.
Absent – Councilor Bray.
President Barry presides.

THE COUNCIL RECONVENES AT EIGHT FORTY O’CLOCK P.M.
The reading of the records of January 10, 2001, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.
Upon motion made by Councilor Hoyas, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Margaret M. Lynch, City Solicitor, requesting a legal opinion regarding the Pawtucket Water Supply Board.
The Council would like to know the following:
1. Who owns the property currently used by the Pawtucket Water Supply Board, including buildings, equipment, and hydrants?
2. Regarding the hydrant fees that the City was recently required to pay by the Public Utilities Commission: If it is determined that the City owns the hydrants, does the City Council have the authority to waive the fees for the use of those hydrants?

JUVENILE HEARING BOARD
James Kareemo, 104 Power Road, Pawtucket, RI 02860. Term expires the first Monday in December, 2004.
Petition for Auto Repair Shop and Second Hand Shop Licenses by Andrew N. Parenteau d/b/a East Avenue Auto Service (Previously Gilly’s Auto Service Inc.) 385 East Avenue, Tax Assessor’s Plat 65 Lot 637, to keep a shop for the purpose of repairing automobiles and purchasing and selling second hand articles, specifically: used parts, LIC# 30256 & 40266, which was advertised for a hearing at this time, is taken up:
Speaking in favor are Andrew Parenteau and Steven Parenteau of 66 Dryden Avenue, Applicants.
Mr. Andrew Parenteau states that he has 20 years of experience, and he is in the process of purchasing the building.
The business will conduct general auto repairs such as tune-ups, tires, exhaust, and brakes.
There are 3 bays inside the building with the ability to hold up to 6 cars inside overnight.
Council President Barry questions the Parenteaus’ regarding the number of cars that will be parked overnight outside.
Mr. Steven Parenteau states that the lot will hold no more than 5-10 cars on the Pat Street side.
All tires will be kept inside in a storage room, and no junk will be kept outside.
Mr. Parenteau states that they will be making a number of improvements to the building including painting, and placing a slatted fence along the back and side of the building.
Council President Barry states the there have been a number of improvements to this area and hope that the Parenteau brothers will continue with the improvements.
There are no other speakers. The hearing is closed.
