City Council, October 25, 2000
A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, October 25, 2000, at eight twenty-five o’clock p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – President Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, Moran, and Wildenhain.
Absent – 0.
President Barry presides.
THE COUNCIL RECESSES IMMEDIATELY TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING:
Request for Tax Stabilization of Richard Desrosiers d/b/a RD Realty, 80 Fountain Street, Pawtucket, RI.
THE COUNCIL RECONVENES AT EIGHT THIRTY-FIVE O’CLOCK P.M.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR HODGE.
With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Hodge, on behalf of Council President Barry, seconded by Councilor Grebien, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to contact the Director of Public Works requesting that the necessary steps be taken to have the Public Address System in the Council Chambers repaired.
The reading of the records of October 11, 2000, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Ronald F. Travers, Director, Zoning and Code Enforcement, requesting an opinion on the letter from William Ankner, RIDOT, regarding the tattoo sign on the corner of Newport Avenue and Cottage Street. The Council is asking if this sign meets all zoning requirements so that no traffic or pedestrian hazards exist.
The Clerk is further instructed to send a communication to William D. Ankner, Director, RIDOT, expressing the Council’s bewilderment in his response to the ongoing problem with the Tattoo sign on the corner of Cottage Street and Newport Avenue.
The Council is asking for specific information as to the procedures the State has taken in this situation, as well as, an answer to the following questions:
1. Was a notice of violation ever issued?
2. What were the results of the State’s investigation?
3. What was the ruling by the State Department of Transportation?

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Margaret M. Lynch, City Solicitor, requesting the status of the property at 278 High Street, as well as, what has happened at this location; what is going to happen and how will any action be implemented.
