City Council, March 8, 2000

A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at eight two o’clock p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

Present – President Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Hodge, Hoyas, Moran, and Wildenhain.

Absent – Councilor Grebien.

President Barry presides.

The reading of the records of February 23, 2000, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

The Clerk is instructed to forward a copy of the request to purchase a parcel of city owned vacant land at Windsor Road to all abutting property owners instructing them to contact Councilor Wildenhain if they have any questions.

Petition for an Auto Repair Shop License of Domenic S. Coccia, Jr., d/b/a Main Street Auto Repair, at 5 Quincy Avenue, Tax Assessor’s Plat 52, Lot 110, to keep a shop for the purpose of repairing automobiles, LIC# 30248, which was advertised for a hearing at this time, is taken up:

The first speaker is the applicant, Domenic Coccia, Jr.

Mr. Coccia states that he will be doing auto reconditioning and alignments.

This business will be an extension of his business down the street because more room is needed.

Mr. Coccia also states that there will be no bodywork, all work will be done inside, and everything will be secured in the building.

There are no other speakers.

The clerk is instructed to send a communication to His Honor, Mayor James E. Doyle, asking for his feelings on imposing a moratorium on building any new houses in the city.

The following resolution is LAID ON THE TABLE on a unanimous voice vote:

RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF BONDING LEGISLATION FOR THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Michael D. Cassidy, Director, Planning and Redevelopment, requesting that two separate resolutions be prepared for the amounts needed in each fiscal year, rather than the double amounts as it appears in the present resolution.

The Council further requests that all back-up material supporting each bond issue be furnished with each resolution.
