A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, November 10, 1999, at eight three o’clock p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – President Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, Moran, and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilor Clemente.

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Hodge, with the recommendation of the City Property Committee, the petition of Lois B. Kilsey, Vice President of Operations, NEPTCO, Inc., requesting the abandonment of a portion of Hamlet Street, between the George R. Bennett Highway, extending 297 feet ± in an easterly direction, encompassing approximately 11,828 ± square feet of land, is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote, as follows:

 

That certain portion of Hamlet Street situated easterly of George R. Bennett Highway in the city of Pawtucket, County of Providence, State of Rhode Island, bounded and described as follows:

 

Beginning at the northwesterly corner of the herein described parcel, said parcel being the intersection of the northerly line of said Hamlet Street with the easterly line of said George R. Bennett Highway;

 

Thence southerly along the easterly line of said George R. Bennett Highway, a distance of forty and 12/100 (40.12) feet to a corner;

 

Then easterly at an interior angle of 94°-21’-11” along the southerly line of said Hamlet Street, a distance of two hundred ninety-four and 20/100 (294.20) feet to a corner;

 

Thence northerly at a right angle crossing said Hamlet Street, a distance of forty and 00/100 (40.00) feet to a corner;

 

Thence westerly at a right angle along the northerly line of said Hamlet Street, a distance of two hundred ninety-seven and 24/100 (297.24) feet to the point and place of beginning;

 

which has ceased to be useful to the public and the same be and hereby is ABANDONED, and IT IS FURTHER ORDERED THAT THE CITY CLERK shall cause a notice thereof to be published in the Evening Times for three successive weeks and to cause to be served a further notice upon every owner of land abutting said portion of Hamlet Street, which has been abandoned, who is known to reside within the state.  FURTHER, THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS shall cause a sign to be placed at each end of said portion of Hamlet Street herein ordered abandoned having thereon the words “NOT A PUBLIC HIGHWAY.”
