City Council, July 21, 1999
A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at twelve eleven o’clock p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – President Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, Moran, and Wildenhain.
Absent – 0.
President Barry presides.
The reading of the records of July 7, 1999, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.
Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Grebien, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Hoyas introduces the following communication:
Communication from Councilor Raymond T. Hoyas, Jr., to the Honorable John J. Barry, III, President, Pawtucket City Council, regarding the removal of Basketball Courts behind the Fire Station on Newport Avenue in Slater Park.
Upon motion made by Councilor Hoyas, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FILED, and is REFERRED TO THE PROPERTY COMMITTEE, CITY PLANNING COMMISSION, PARKS COMMISSION, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS, AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Ronald F. Travers, Director of Zoning and Code Enforcement, asking him to assist the Ordinance Committee in adopting language in the form of an ordinance that would address problems of additions attached to existing buildings in our City.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Margaret M. Lynch, City Solicitor, requesting a legal opinion as to whether the City Council is in conflict by issuing its opinion to the Zoning Board regarding a Zoning matter, which is being heard Tuesday, July 27, 1999.

Upon motion made by Councilor Hoyas, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the motion to send the communication to the Zoning Board urging denial of the special use permit at 303 Beverage Hill Avenue for a gun shop, is AMENDED to add “Subject to receiving an advisory opinion from the Legal Department on this issue”
