A special session of the City Council is held Wednesday, July 16, 1997, at five three o'clock p.m. All the members are present except Councilors Moran and Rabbitt and President Barry presides.
Communication from Council President John J. Barry, III, calling a Special Session of the City Council on Wednesday, July 16, 1997, at 5:00 p.m. is READ AND ORDERED FILED.
Appointment as a member of the School Committee to fill the unexpired term of Brian J. Kelly. (Pursuant to section 3-708 of the Pawtucket City Charter) is TAKEN UP:
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR HODGE.
Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by the entire Council, the name of James E. Gilligan, is placed in nomination for the School Committee.
Upon motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the nominations for School Committee are closed.
JAMES E. GILLIGAN IS APPOINTED TO FILL THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF BRIAN J. KELLY ON THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE on a roll call vote, as follows:
Ayes - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Butler, Cute, Doyle, Hodge and Vieira.
Noes - 0.
The Oath of Office is administered to School Committee member James E. Gilligan by Council President John J. Barry III
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR BUTLER.
With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Butler, seconded by Council Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Richard Fox, thanking him for his interest in serving on the School Committee.
Upon motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the meeting is adjourned at five twenty o=clock p.m.
