City Council, May 15, 1996.
A special session of the City Council is held Wednesday, May 15, 1996, at five seven o’clock p.m. All the members are present except Councilor Rabbitt and President Barry presides.
THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE IS TAKEN UP:
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR VIEIRA.
With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Vieira submits the following amendment:
SECTION 2. shall be repealed in its entirety and replaced with the following:
SECTION 2. The following reductions shall be made to appropriations provided for in Section 1 of the Annual Operating Budget, approved June 17, 1994:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Butler, Cute, Doyle, Hodge, Moran and Vieira.
Noes - 0.

THE CITY WILL USE THE FENCED IN AREA OF SLATER PARK WHICH FORMERLY HOUSED THE ZOO FOR THE CREATION OF A CULTURAL, NATURAL, EDUCATIONAL HERITAGE CENTER; COMBINING THE PROPOSALS OF FRIENDS OF SLATER PARK, SAVE THE PARK, THE FRIENDS OF THE ZOO AT SLATER PARK AND ANNALISA MORETTI.
Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Cute, the following recommendation is LAID ON THE TABLE on a unanimous voice vote:

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to KPMG Peat Marwick LLP, to ask that they send copies of the completed actuarial study to each Councilors’ home as soon as it is finished.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to William Mulholland, Director of Parks and Recreation, requesting that he attend the next City Council meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 22, 1996, regarding the use of the former elephant cage at the Slater Park Zoo.
