The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to the Transportation Advisory Committee, Division of Planning, regarding the Conant Street bridge in Pawtucket.
The Council would like to inform the Committee that this bridge has been closed since 1988, and is causing major problems in the Conant Street, Mineral Spring Avenue, Lonsdale Avenue, Weeden Street area of the City.
The Council is very anxious to have this repair work done and the bridge reopened to traffic. They want to know where this bridge fits into the scheme of repairs in the state, and what they can do to help make this repair work a high priority for the state.

The Council wants to know why the Planning Department has not kept the pressure on the state to keep the repair work to this bridge a priority.

Councilor Doyle stated that a meeting was held with the PTO that he and Michael Burns, Traffic Engineer, attended, where it was agreed that traffic signs would be installed to make Pullen Avenue one-way, twice a day for one hour, at the start and close of school to alleviate the traffic congestion and safety hazards for the students.
The Council would like to know what his specific objections are to this solution to the problem so that they may be addressed immediately.

4. How it could cost less to send them to the Providence Academy than to the Municipal Training Academy run by the State, when state law specifically says that there shall be no charge to the Municipalities for training at the state run academy.
