City Council, June 1, 1995

A special session of the City Council is held Thursday, June 1, 1995, at seven fifteen o’clock p.m. All the members are present except Councilor Kinder and President Barry presides.

THE COUNCIL RECESSES IMMEDIATELY TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE MUNICIPAL BUDGETS.

COUNCILOR KINDER ARRIVES AT SEVEN THIRTY-THREE O’CLOCK PM.

THE COUNCIL RECONVENES AT 9:05 PM.

591      Communication from Council President, John J. Barry, III, calling a Special Session of the City Council on Thursday, June 1, 1995, at 7:00 PM is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

The following ordinance is read for the first time and passed on a roll call vote, as follows:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Demopulos, Hodge, Kinder, Moran and Vieira.

Noes - Councilors Doyle and Rabbitt.

ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGET ORDINANCE 1995-1996.

The following ordinance is read for the first time and passed on a roll call vote, as follows:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Demopulos, Doyle, Hodge, Kinder, Moran, Rabbitt and Vieira.

Noes - 0

CAPITAL BUDGET ORDINANCE 1995-1996.

The following ordinance is read for the first time and passed on a roll call vote, as follows:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Demopulos, Doyle, Hodge, Kinder, Moran, Rabbitt and Vieira.

Noes - 0.

CAPITAL PROGRAM ORDINANCE 1996-2000.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR DEMOPULOS.

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Demopulos introduces the following resolution:

588      Resolution in Support of 95-H 7015 "AN ACT VALIDATING AND RATIFYING AN AMENDMENT TO THE HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET."

Upon Motion made by Councilor Demopulos, seconded by Councilors Kinder and Rabbitt, the following resolution is read and passed on a roll call vote, as follows:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Doyle, Hodge, Kinder, Rabbitt and Vieira.

Noes - Councilors Demopulos and Moran

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR HODGE.

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Hodge introduces the following resolution:

588      Resolution approving bonding in the amount of $1 million for school buildings.

Upon Motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Kinder, the following resolution is read and passed on a roll call vote, PENDING THE APPROVAL OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Demopulos, Doyle, Hodge, Kinder, Moran, Rabbitt and Vieira.

Noes - 0.

Resolution approving bonding in the amount of $1 million for school buildings.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR VIEIRA.

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Vieira introduces the following resolution:

588      Resolution regarding negotiations of the next collective bargaining agreement.

Upon Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following resolution is read and passed on a roll call vote:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Demopulos, Doyle, Hodge, Kinder, Moran, Rabbitt and Vieira.

Noes - 0.

COUNCIL PRESIDENT BARRY RELINQUISHES THE CHAIR AT 9:40 PM.

COUNCIL PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE VIEIRA PRESIDES.

With majority consent of the Council, Council President Barry introduces the following communication:

613      Communication from Christopher E. Fay, Assistant City Solicitor to Richard J. Goldstein, City Clerk (Images Entertainment License.)

Upon Motion made by Council President Barry, seconded by Councilor Kinder, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FILED:

The Clerk is instructed to prepare a Summons for a Formal Hearing scheduled for Wednesday, June 7, 1995, at 8:00 p.m. regarding the application of C M Teens Inc., d/b/a Images, 44 East Avenue, to conduct an Adult Alcohol Free Dance Club.

COUNCIL PRESIDENT BARRY PRESIDES AT 9:42 PM.

Upon Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Kinder, the meeting is adjourned at nine forty-three o’clock p.m.
