City Council, May 17, 1994

A special session of the City Council is held Tuesday, May 17, 1994, at four fifty-four o’clock p.m. in the City Council Office, Room 303, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. All the members are present except Councilor Rabbitt; President Barry presides.

591      Communication from President John J. Barry, III, calling a Special Session of the City Council on Tuesday, May 17, 1994, at 4:45 PM is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR VIEIRA.

With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Moran to move into Executive Session pursuant to R.I.G.L. SEC 42–46–5 Subsection (2) regarding pending litigation with Attorney, Patrick Quinlan, is passed on a roll call vote, as follows:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Demopulos Doyle, Hodge, Kinder, Moran and Vieira.

Noes - 0

The Council returns to open session at five twenty-five o’clock p.m.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR VIEIRA.

With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Moran to approve the recommendation of Patrick Quinlan, Attorney, on the RICO Case is approved on a roll call vote, as follows:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilors Bray, Demopulos Doyle, Hodge, Kinder, Moran and Vieira.

Noes - 0

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR VIEIRA.

Upon Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Demopulos, the minutes of the meeting held in executive session are sealed on a unanimous voice vote.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR VIEIRA.

With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Demopulos, to correct the Tax Assessment Bill portion of the Annual Operating Budget Ordinance, FY 95, is approved on a unanimous voice vote, as follows:

Add the word "eight" after "fifty" in the first paragraph so that the minimum levy is Fifty-eight Million Dollars.

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Vieira introduces the following Memo:

Upon Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Kinder, the following Memo is READ AND ORDERED FILED:
