The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Mayor Robert E. Metivier, requesting a thorough report on the sink in the Judge’s Chamber which was the focus of a recent newspaper article. The Council wants to know who authorized the work to be done, the total cost to put in this sink and the plumbing equipment, and all other pertinent information regarding this matter.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Al Hallquist, Supervisor of Environmental Control, requesting that he do an inspection of the Berger Scrap Company on Front Street regarding debris which is going into the river. The Council would like him to take whatever action is necessary to eliminate this problem and report back to the Council as soon as possible.

Speaking in favor is Jack Francisco, 14 Hollow Ridge Road, Rumford, RI.

Mr. Francisco states that the operation is located where a limousine business was.

They will be involved in auto sales and will install the accessories which are sold in the Central Falls store.

There is one large bay which holds 12 cars, and they will display cars outside as well.

There will be no auto body work and towing.

Mr. Francisco states that he has been in business for 12 years in Central Falls.

Mr. Burke states that they are requesting a change of the name because the company is incorporated now. The owner died and the son, Mark Welch, now owns the corporation.

Speaking in favor is Mark Welch, 555 South Main Street, Providence, RI.

Mr. Welch states that the Front Street/Central Avenue end of the business has been sided and painted. The cars are behind a high chain link fence. It is not in deplorable condition. At the other end of the property, the autos are also behind the fence.

He also states that he has problems with people on Middle Street, who are dumping trash down the hill onto his property.
