City Council, January 6, 1992.

A regular session of the City Council is held Monday, January 6, 1992, at three seventeen o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber. All the members are present except Councilmen Robert Lynch, William Lynch, and Rabbitt; President Barry presides.

The following Resolution is read and passed on a roll call vote, as follows:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilmembers Calista, Doyle, Kinder and Vieira.

Noes - 0

588      Resolution Transferring Unfinished Business to the New City Council of 1992–1993.

Upon Motion made by Councilman Kinder, seconded by Councilman Vieira, the meeting is adjourned at three twenty-seven o’clock p.m.

The City Council-elect of the City of Pawtucket for 1992–1993 assembles Monday, January 6, 1992, at six fifty-four o’clock p.m. at the Tolman High School Auditorium, Exchange Street, where the Inaugural Exercises are held.

Invocation is offered by Reverend Christopher M. Davenport, Assistant-St. Leo the Great Parish, Pawtucket, RI.

Pledge of Allegiance of the Flag of the United States of America is let by Mr. George M. Metivier, brother of Mayor-elect Robert E. Metivier.

The National Anthem, The Star Spangled, Banner, is sung by soloist Miss Belinda Lima.

The Honorable Kathleen S. Connell, Secretary of State, reads the Certificate of election of Mayor-elect Robert E. Metivier.

The Oath of Office is administered to Mayor-elect Robert E. Metivier by the Honorable Kathleen S. Connell.

Address by His Excellency, Bruce G. Sundlun, Governor of the State of Rhode Island.

Upon Motion made by Councilman Calista, seconded by Councilmember Clement, the name of Councilman John J. Barry, III, is placed in nomination for City Council President.

Upon Motion made by Councilman Calista, seconded by Councilmember Clement, the Nominations for City Council President are closed.

COUNCILMAN JOHN J. BARRY, III IS ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL on a roll call vote, as follows:

Ayes - Councilmembers Barry, Calista, Clement, Doyle, Kinder, Moran, Rabbitt, and Vieira.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILMAN DOYLE.

Upon Motion made by Councilman Doyle, seconded by Councilman Kinder, the name of Councilman William D. Vieira, Sr. is placed in nomination for City Council President Pro Tempore.

Upon Motion made by Councilman Doyle, seconded by Councilman Kinder the Nominations for City Council President Pro Tempore are closed.

COUNCILMAN WILLIAM D. VIEIRA, SR. IS ELECTED PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE OF THE CITY COUNCIL on a roll call vote, as follows:

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILMAN KINDER.

588      Upon Motion made by Councilman Kinder, seconded by Councilman Calista, the Rules of the City Council for 1992–1993 are adopted on a roll call vote, as follows:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilmembers Calista, Clement, Doyle, Kinder, Moran, Rabbitt, and Vieira.

Noes - 0

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILMAN DOYLE.

With majority consent of the Council, Councilman Doyle introduces the following resolution:

588      Resolution Congratulating Mayor Raymond W. Houle, Jr., for his service to the Community and Dedicating a piece of land at the Intersection of Pawtucket Avenue and Main Street as "Mayor Raymond W. Houle, Jr., Park."

Upon Motion made by Councilman Doyle, seconded by the Entire City Council, the following Resolution is read and passed on a roll call vote, as follows:

Ayes - President Barry, Councilmembers Calista, Clement, Doyle, Kinder, Moran, Rabbitt, and Vieira.
