A regular session of the City Council is held Wednesday, March 7, 1990, at eight fifty five o’clock p.m. All the members are present except Councilman Robert Lynch and President Houle presides.

The reading of the records of February 21, 1990 is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.
Petition for AUTO REPAIR SHOP LICENSE of Newton A. Hernandez d/b/a Timbu Auto Repair, at 49 Middle Street, Tax Assessor’s Plat #20 Lot #573, to keep a shop for repairing automobiles, which was advertised for a hearing at this time, is taken up:
No speakers in favor.
Speaking in opposition is Paul Robillard, 43 Middle Street, Pawtucket, RI.
Mr. Robillard states that he lives next door and that there has been work going on there for the past three months, he does not want painting at this site.
Speaking against is David Leech, 46 Middle Street, Pawtucket, RI.
Mr. Leech states that work is being done on the cars. It is too noisy and he has had no problem prior to this establishment.

It is further requested that Newton A. Hernandez applicant for the Auto Repair Shop License be present at the April 11, 1990, meeting of the City Council to answer questions the Council has regarding this license.

With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilman Rabbitt, seconded by Councilman Kinder, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Eugene J. Jeffers, P.E., Director of Public Works, requesting an updated status report on the improvements to the Public Works Center on Armistice Boulevard. It is further requested a status report be received in time for the April 11, 1990, for the City Council meeting.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILMAN RABBITT.
With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilman Rabbitt, seconded by Councilman Kinder, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Roger F. Giraud, Director of Planning and Development, requesting the following information, regarding the proposed Slater Park Master Plan.
1. Why is there a ten year plan proposal rather than a five year plan.
2. A written Plan and the cost and proposal for Maintenance and Security of the Park.
3. Costs of the roadwork, sewers and sidewalks to be done in the Park.
4. Copies of the Master Plan sent to all Members of the City Council, some of whom have not received one as of yet.
A response is requested in time for the March 21, 1990, for the City Council meeting.

With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilman Kinder, seconded by Councilman Barry, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Eugene J. Jeffers, P.E., Director of Public Works, requesting when the backboards on the basketball courts behind Potter Burns School will be replaced. If there are no plans to replace those backboards, the Council requests an explanation.

With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilman Barry, seconded by Councilman Kinder, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Eugene J. Jeffers, P.E., Director of Public Works, requesting that the new microphone system be set up for all Zoning Board meetings in the future.
