Accommodations Coordinator – Grades 9-12
ACCOMMODATIONS COORDINATOR – GRADES 9-12
Goal: The Middletown High School Grades 9-12 Accommodations Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all students testing with accommodations. Accommodations are defined as those who have an IEP, AP, 504, or English Language Learners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work with the school’s Test Coordinator to order standardized tests, organize room placement, organize proctors, and communicate accommodation status;
· Provide documentation to College Board, ACT, or Next Generation Science Assessment;
· Upload documentation for review and submit accommodation requests;
· Check and update the status of accommodation requests;
· Generate and print AP and PSAT/NSMQT Nonstandard Administration Reports (NARs);
· Access a list of all students who have requested accommodations and their approved accommodations;
· Contact College Board, ACT, and Next Generation Science Assessment to discuss concerns regarding submitted approvals;
· Learn the policies and procedures for each assessment;
· Use SSD Online to create rosters and generate Nonstandard Administration Reports (NARs);
· Administer school-based State Assessments to students testing with certain accommodations.
· Collaborate with other educators, especially Special Ed instructors;
· Train proctors to ensure test accommodations are met;
· Solicit accommodations from student’s parents or guardians;
· Ensure test security standards are met;
· Compile and batch completed tests;
· Provide coaching and assistance to the schools and staff to improve knowledge and understanding of student accommodations, especially with respect to assessments;
· Provide leadership and assist school personnel by providing clarity of focus, expanded opportunities, and promoting high expectations of all students;
· Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. R.I. Teaching Certification in any area required
2. R.I. Teaching Certification in Administration/Leadership or Special Education preferred
3. Experience in administering state assessments and determining appropriate accommodations
4. A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience
5. Experience (with evidence) in advancing the use of setting goals and analyzing data to improve student learning and self-improvement
6. Evidence of supporting a vision that reflects an ALL STUDENTS classroom program
7. Demonstrated ability in using technology to support teaching and learning
8. Demonstrated ability with planning, coordinating and validating instructional innovation efforts with the Common Core State Standards
9. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Rhode Island Basic Education Program & Regulations and the Rhode Island Criteria & Guidance for the Identification of Specific Learning Disabilities
10. Excellent project management, organizational skills, technology skills including use of Excel spreadsheets, TIEnet /development & maintenance of student plans & IEP documents
11. Outstanding critical thinking skills
12. The ability to work effectively with others at all levels of an organization including colleagues, parents, students, and administrators
13. Capacity to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
14. The ability to identify challenges and be flexible to actively work to find solutions
15. Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills
16. Openness and responsiveness to feedback
17. Demonstrate exemplary oral and written communication and listening skills.
