HEAD CONTENT TEACHER K-4 SCIENCE
Position Description:
GOAL:
Head Content Teachers will provide leadership, coordination and administrative support in the ongoing development, implementation and administration of all phases of the district’s curriculum cycle.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Attends curriculum and other professional conferences.
· Provides support and guidance to teachers in handling of day-to-day problems of instruction and implementation of curriculum.
· Promotes innovation within the curriculum area.
· Attends district wide learning leadership team meetings
· Attends meetings with other Head Content Teachers to allow for vertical alignment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. R.I. Teaching Certification in elementary education.
2. Master’s degree in curriculum area preferred.
3. Substantial experience (curriculum and assessment development, professional development) in science required.
2. A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience.
3. Experience in leading professional development activities for staff such as curriculum development including learning goals, targets, assessments, and/or review of data.
4. Experience (with evidence) in advancing the use of data to improve student learning and self-improvement.
5. Evidence of supporting a vision that reflects an ALL STUDENTS classroom program.
6. Demonstrated ability in using technology to support teaching and learning.
7. Demonstrated ability with planning, coordinating and validating instructional innovation efforts with the Common Core State Standards.
8. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Rhode Island Basic Education Program & Regulations.
10. Ability to work with colleagues, parents, students, and administrators.
11. Demonstrate exemplary oral and written communication and listening skills.
12. Positive attitude.
13. Successful interview.
14. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate.
NOTE: The successful candidate cannot concurrently hold a leadership position (elementary head teacher, middle school grade leader, high school director, special education coordinator or technology educator) in the district.
