Assistant Superintendent for Academic and Technology Services
ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR ACADEMIC AND TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
QUALIFICATIONS:
10. Evidence of collaborative group process skills at the local, regional and state levels to assure success and prominence for academic initiatives.
11. Knowledge and capacity to create, grow and develop new programs while sustaining existing programs.
12. Talent to leverage the strengths of individuals, groups and organizations to achieve long term success.
13. Knowledge of standards-based instruction, Grade Level and Grade Span Expectations.
14. Ability to implement strategic planning and support School Improvement Plans.
15. Ability to manage student data to plan and assist in improved teaching and learning.
16. Successful interview.
17. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools
JOB GOAL: Responsible for administering the curriculum and instructional programs of the district, professional development services and administrative and instructional technology services.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the School Committee.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
10. Complete periodic reports required by Federal, State and local agencies and others as directed by the Superintendent.
11. Coordinate staff professional development and professional growth activities for members of the certified and non-certified staff of the school district.
12. Direct the development, preparation and submission of all grant programs and supervise their implementation.
13. Assist in the recruitment, screening, hiring and assignment of administrative and instructional personnel.
14. Coordinate all staff evaluation procedures.
15. Attend all regular and special meetings of the School Committee and prepare such reports for the Committee as the Superintendent may request.
16. Coordinate district-wide testing programs; review, evaluate and report assessment outcomes, as well as other evaluative measures used by the schools.
17. Guide the selection of textbooks, software and instructional materials for the school department through department and grade level meetings.
18. Review all accreditation processes.
19. Coordinate development of the district’s Strategic Plan.
20. Provide assistance to schools in planning and implementing School Improvement Plans.
21. Coordinate a communication process to facilitate interaction among principals, content area specialists, and teachers in organizing the articulation of the instructional program throughout the district.
22. Work collaboratively with all bargaining units in the district.
23. Assist the Superintendent and administration in procedures to assure compliance with contractual and/or state regulations.
24. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the Superintendent may assign from time to time.
