1.      Vote of the City Council to conduct and hold an emergency meeting pursuant to R.I.G.L. 42-46-6(c) to address an unexpected occurrence that requires immediate action to protect the public and statement on the record as to why the matter must be addressed with less than 48 hours public notice.

2.      Discussion and consideration of effect of I-195 bridge closure on the City of East Providence residents, businesses, emergency services (fire, rescue, police), Department of Public Works and related actions taken by the City – City Council

 

President Rodericks summarized the nature of the situation and offered some big picture direction.

Vice President Rego updated the community regarding current actions being taken by Chief Francisconi, Director of Transportation, State Police and the Governor. He recommended contacting the National Guard and making a local map of street closures for the community. He offered a contact number for support of small businesses.

Councilwoman Sousa made traffic pattern recommendations and urged citizens to follow direction and street signs to reduce congestion.

Councilman Fogarty reiterated that citizens needed to follow street signs and direction for best case scenario.

Patricia Resendes, project manager from the Mayors office reviewed actions that Mayor has taken to alleviate stress to the community.
