IV.             NEW BUSINESS

A.    Council Members

1.      Charter Review Commission First Meeting, Thursday February 23, 2017 at 7:00PM in Conference Room A, City Hall, 145 Taunton Avenue (02914) (by Mayor Briden)

A motion to hold the first Charter Review Commission meeting on March 2, 2017 in Room 306 at City Hall, 145 Taunton Avenue, East Providence RI 02914 at 7:00PM and to instruct the City Clerk to book the room for the next 8 Thursdays is made by Councilman Botelho, seconded by Councilman Faria and on a roll call vote it is unanimous. 

Under discussion Councilman Faria asks if a member were to fall ill or be unable to attend would it be prudent to appoint alternates.

Mayor Briden indicates that is certainly an option and that an alternate can be appointed at a regular Council meeting in the future and stated that if the Council would like the City Clerk can list an alternate for the next Council meeting.
