AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF EAST PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, 1998, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED “VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC”

SECTION I.  Subsection (b) of Sec. 18-269 entitled “Stop and yield intersections designated; when stops required” is amended by adding thereto the following:

Deer Street (northbound and southbound traffic) at Leahy Street

SECTION II.  This ordinance shall take effect upon second passage and all ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION I.  Section 18-307 entitled “Parking prohibited at all times.” of Article X entitled “Stopping, Standing and Parking” of Chapter 18 of the Revised Ordinances of the City of East Providence, Rhode Island, 1998, as amended, entitled “Vehicles and Traffic” is amended by adding thereto the following:

Massasoit Avenue (south side) from Austin Avenue to a point 80 feet west

1. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY COUNCIL TO APPOINT TIMOTHY J. CHAPMAN AS ACTING CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF EAST PROVIDENCE

WHEREAS, pursuant to preliminary Resolution No. 25, the City Manager was suspended from his duties by the City of East Providence on August 11, 2016; and

WHEREAS, the City Council hereby appoints Timothy J. Chapman as the Acting City Manager of the City of East Providence; and

WHEREAS, the City Council authorizes the Mayor to negotiate the terms and conditions of employment for the Acting City Manager subject to City Council approval.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED effective August 16, 2016 the City Council appoints Timothy J. Chapman as the Acting City Manager until the City Council appoints a City Manager pursuant to Section 2-10 of the City Charter.

This resolution shall become effective upon its passage.

SECTION I.  Section 18-247 entitled “Designation of one-way streets” of Article VIII entitled “One-Way Streets” of Chapter 18 entitled “Vehicles and Traffic” is amended by adding thereto the following:

Bourne Avenue (westbound) from Brayton Avenue to Hoyt Avenue during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days.

SECTION II.  This ordinance shall take effect upon second passage and all ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
