All items under CONSENT CALENDAR are considered to be of a routine and noncontroversial nature by the City Council and will be enacted by one motion. There will be no separate discussion on these items unless a Council member so requests, in which event, the item will be removed from the CONSENT CALENDAR and will be considered in its normal sequence on the docket.

2.   Town of Burrillville Town Council opposition to House Bill 7276 relating to taxation - tax sales.

3.   Town of Foster Town Council resolution in opposition to House Bill 5931 and Senate Bill 606 an amendment to the “Madeline Walker Bill” from 20006 relating to foreclosures.

4.   City of Newport City Council resolution in support of the return of the America’s Cup challenge in Newport.

5.   Town of Charlestown Town Council urging the General Assembly to approve legislation establiishing a “Blue Alert” program in the State of Rhode Island.

Pursuant to R.I.G.L. ? 42-46-5(a)(2), a motion is made by Councilman DiTraglia and seconded by Councilwoman Perry to convene in closed session for the purposes of discussing claims & litigation and it is unanimous.

Claim for property damage to vehicle sustained as a result of striking a large rock in the roadway.  See recommendation of the Director of Public Works.

Motion:  Deny the claim.

Claim for personal property lost and/or unaccounted for after the arrest of the claimant by the East Providence Police Department.  See recommendation of Sgt. William Nebus.

Motion:  Refer the claim to the insurance carrier.

Claim for reimbursement of expenses incurred due to a damaged/blocked sewer line.  See recommendation of the Director of Public Works.

 

Motion:  Approve the claim in the amount of $814.69 based on the conditions contained in the claim recommendation of the Director of Public Works.

Claim for property damage sustained when a large tree limb fell onto the claimant’s vehicle.  See recommendation of the Assistant Superintendent of Parks.

CLAIMS FOR RECONSIDERATION

Claim for property damage to claimant’s parked vehicle which was struck by a police vehicle in the parking lot of the police station.  This matter was heard by the Claims Committee at its meeting held on January 19, 2010 and it was voted to deny the claim.  See letter dated February 25, 2010 from the claimant asking for reconsideration of the claim.

Motion:  Deny the claim.
