The City Council meets in the Council Chambers on Monday, December 1, 2008 and the City Manager Richard Brown calls the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
The invocation is given by Reverend John E. Unsworth, Pastor of St. Brendan Church.

City Manager Brown calls the Council into session.
Nominations for Mayor are taken, Councilman Cusack nominates Councilman Larisa, seconded by Councilman Coogan and on a roll call vote it is unanimously approved.
City Manager Brown declares Councilman Larisa the duly elected Mayor of the City of East Providence.
Chief Justice Williams administers the Oath of Engagement to Mayor Larisa.
Mayor Larisa delivers remarks.
City Manager Brown presents Mayor Larisa with the gavel.
Mayor Larisa calls for nominations for Assistant Mayor. Nominations are taken and Councilman Coogan nominates Councilman Cusack, seconded by Councilwoman Perry and on a roll call vote it is unanimously approved.
Chief Justice Williams administers the Oath of Engagement to Assistant Mayor Cusack.

Mayor Larisa calls for nominations for City Clerk. Nominations are taken and Councilwoman Perry nominates Kim Casci, seconded by Councilman Cusack and on a roll call vote it is unanimously approved.
Mayor Larisa administers the Oath of Engagement to City Clerk Kim Casci.
Mayor Larisa calls for nominations for City Solicitor. Nominations are taken and Councilman Cusack nominates James Briden, seconded by Councilman Coogan and on a roll call vote it is unanimously approved.

Mayor Larisa calls for motions for the appointment of Assistant City Solicitors. Councilman Coogan moves for the adoption of the following resolution: RESOLVED, that Matthew Oliverio and Robert Craven be appointed Assistant City Solicitors to serve for a term of office concurrent with that of the Council and until their successors are appointed and qualified, seconded by Assistant Mayor Cusack and on a roll call vote it is unanimously adopted.

Mayor Larisa calls for motions for the appointment of Probate Judge. Councilman DiTraglia moves for the adoption of the following resolution: RESOLVED, that Christine Engustian be appointed Probate Judge to serve for a term of office concurrent with that of the Council and until her successor is appointed and qualified, seconded by Councilwoman Perry and on a roll call vote it is unanimously adopted.
Councilwoman Perry administers the Oath of Engagement.
Mayor calls for motions for the appointment of Municipal Court Judge. Councilman Cusack moves the adoption of the following resolution: RESOLVED, that Patrick Rogers be appointed Municipal Court Judge to serve for a term of office concurrent with that of the Council and until his successor is appointed and qualified, seconded by Councilman DiTraglia and on a roll call vote it is unanimously adopted.

Mayor Larisa calls for nominations for Municipal Court Officer. Councilman Coogan moves the adoption of the following resolution: RESOLVED, that Joseph Connors be appointed Officer of the Municipal Court to serve for a term of office concurrent with that of the Council and until his successor is appointed and qualified, seconded by Councilwoman Perry and on a roll call vote it is unanimously adopted.
Assistant Mayor Cusack administers the Oath of Engagement.
Mayor Larisa calls for motions for appointment of City Sergeants. Councilman Coogan moves the adoption of the following resolution: RESOLVED, that William Abbood and Jason Medeiros be appointed City Sergeants to serve for a term of office concurrent with that of the Council and until their successor is appointed and qualified, seconded by Councilman Cusack and on a roll call vote it is unanimously adopted.

Mayor called for motions for appointment of the Sealer of Weights and Measures. Councilwoman Perry moves the adoption of the following resolution: RESOLVED, that John Butler be appointed Sealer of Weights and Measures to serve for a term of office concurrent with that of the Council and until his successor is appointed and qualified, seconded by Councilman DiTraglia and on a roll call vote it is unanimously adopted.

Mayor Larisa calls for a motion for the holding of Council meetings in 2009. Councilwoman Perry moved that the City Council meet at 7:30pm in the Council Chamber, City Hall, on the following dates in 2009:

April 7 & 21
May 5 & 19
June 2 & 16
July 21
August 18
September 1 & 15
October 6 & 20

Councilman DiTraglia seconded the motion and on a roll call vote it was unanimously adopted.
Mayor Larisa declared the Council business finished and asks all to remain seated for the School Committee Organization. Everyone is invited to a reception at the East Providence Senior Center at the conclusion of the School Committee Organization.
