The City Council with the School Committee meets in the Council Chambers on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 Mayor Isadore S. Ramos and Chairperson Mildred Morris calls the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

Mayor Ramos asked for a motion to go into executive session in accordance with General Laws Section 42-46-5-(a) (2) (Collective Bargaining/Litigation), (Regarding Arbitration Award – Case #113900127906).
On motion of Councilwomen Perry, seconded by Councilman Cusack, and on a roll-call vote it is unanimously approved. It is noted for the record that Councilman Silva is absent.
Chairperson Morris asked for a motion to go into executive session in accordance with General Laws Sections 42-46-5-(a) (2) (Collective Bargaining/Litigation), (Regarding Arbitration Award – Case #113900127906).
On motion of Ms. Lovett, seconded by Mr. Medeiros and on a roll-call vote it is unanimously approved.
It is noted for the record that Councilman Silva is present to go into executive session.
The meeting reconvenes in open session at 7:50 p.m.
On motion of Councilman Silva, seconded by Councilman Cusack and on a roll-call vote it passes 3-2 to appeal the arbitrator’s decision to Superior Court and Supreme Court.
Councilman Cusack, Councilwoman Perry, and Councilman Silva voted to approve. Councilman DiTraglia voted nay under protest and Mayor Ramos voted nay.
Councilman DiTraglia states the City Council and School Committee has some time to work together.
On motion of Mr. Faria, seconded by Mr. Santos to go forward with the appeal in conjunction with the City Council and on a roll-call vote it is denied 2-3.
Mr. Faria and Mr. Santos voted to approve. Ms. Lovett, Mr. Medeiros and Chairperson Morris voted nay.
On motion by Ms. Lovett, seconded by Mr. Medeiros and on a roll-call vote it passes 4-1 to adjourn.
Ms. Lovett, Mr. Medeiros, Mr. Santos, and Chairperson Morris voted to approve.
Mr. Faria voted nay.
Chairperson Morris adjourns the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Conley states there will be no appeal at this time, and the City Council and the School Committee will work together.
Mayor Ramos states the City Council is working close with the School Committee and trying to talk to the teachers.
On motion of Councilman Silva, seconded by Councilwoman Perry and on a roll-call vote it is unanimously approved to adjourn.
Mayor Ramos adjourns the meeting at 8:06 p.m.
