The City Council meets in Conference Room A on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 and is called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Rolland R. Grant.

Mr. Conley explains to the Council what needs to be done for the Council to go into closed session. He says the Attorney General=s office has included discussion of resumes of job applicants as an exception to the Open Meetings Law, as long as a proper vote is taken. Also, as an amendment to the statute, the Council is required to notify the applicants that they have the right to request a meeting in Open Session. The City Clerk informs the Council that she received a few replies to the letter sent, but received no requests for a meeting in open session.
On motion of Councilman Ramos, seconded by Councilman Rogers, and on a roll call vote, it is unanimously voted to go into Executive Session in accordance with Section 42-46-5 of the AExceptions@ of Chapter 46 of the General Laws, pursuant to Section 42-46-5-(a)1)[Job Performance]. The motion passes unanimously on a roll call vote.
The open meeting recesses and goes into Executive Session at 6:10 p.m.
The open meeting reconvenes at 8:00 p.m.
It is reported for the record that the committee worked on a draft letter, which will be sent to the applicants. No votes were taken.
The meeting adjourns at 8:02 p.m.
