SPECIAL HEARING

RE:  SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER JOSEPH TRAFICANTE

OCTOBER 25, 1993

William J. Conley, Jr., City Solicitor

Valerie A. Perry, City Clerk

Meeting is called to order at 8:30 p.m.

 

Mr. Conley says the meeting was called at this time rather than the posted time of 8:00 p.m. at his request, because he was conferring with Mr. Traficante's counsel.  He says those discussions are ongoing and says in a short time he will be able to advise the Council if a resolution in the matter has been reached.

 

William J. Murphy, representing Mr. Traficante, identifies himself for the record.

 

Mr. Lemont asks the Council's permission to meet during the recess to discuss the ongoing negotiations.

 

Motion is made by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Mr. Larisa, and voted unanimously on a roll call vote to go into Closed Session to discuss negotiations.

 

Motion passes 5-0 and the meeting goes into closed session at 8:31 p.m.

The meeting regarding Special Police Officer Joseph Traficante is reconvened at 9:29 p.m. by a motion of Mr. Larisa, seconded by Mr. Lynch, and voted unanimously on a roll call vote.

 

Mr. Conley says Mr. Murphy has a request of the Council to go into Closed Session regarding Mr. Traficante's job performance.  Motion is made by Mr. Sullivan, seconded by Mr. Miranda, and voted unanimously on a roll call vote to go into closed session.  The meeting goes into closed session at 9:30 p.m. to discuss Mr. Traficante's job performance.

The meeting is reconvened in open session at 9:50 p.m.  Motion is made by Mr. Miranda, seconded by Mr. Larisa, to adjourn the meeting.  Roll call vote follows:

Motion passes 5-0 and meeting is adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
