MONDAY, JANUARY 13, 2025 at 5:15 P.M.

 

Special Meeting of the City Council was held in the City of Cranston Council Chambers, Cranston

City Hall, 869 Park Ave., Cranston, RI 02910, for the purpose of considering the following items listed

on the agenda. Remote participation was also available.

I.          CALL TO ORDER

 

The meeting was called to order at 5:21 P.M. by the Council President Jessica M. Marino

 

II.         ROLL CALL

 

The roll was called by the City Clerk.  Stated as present:  Councilman Campopiano, Councilman Buonanno, Councilman Ritz, Councilman Traficante, Council Vice-President Wall, and Council President Marino.  Councilman Andujar arrived at 5:22 P.M.  Absent: Councilwoman Haroian and Councilwoman Graziano.  Also present:  Solicitor Millea and City Clerk T. Nelson.

 

III.        PUBLIC HEARINGS AND PUBLIC COMMENT   

 

Public hearings under this section are limited to DOCKETED subject matters only. Public comment may be permitted and will be subject to time limitations.

 

Written public comment may be submitted via email to https://www.cranstonri.gov/city-council-contact-form/  no later than 4:00 PM on the Friday prior to the Council meeting in order to be provided to the City Council before the meeting.  All such written comments shall include your name and address.  (Vote may be taken to accept written comment and to place it on record)

 

Members of the public may also participate in public comment by accessing the zoom link referenced on the first page and using the "raise your hand" feature.  For those without access to video observation platforms, you may also call in to the meeting by dialing 1-888-788-0099 and pressing *9 to raise your hand during public comment.

 

There was no public comment.

 

IV.        INTRODUCTION OF NEW BUSINESS  

 

The following New Business items are listed for reference and for a vote to be referred to the appropriate Council sub-committee for a public hearing:

 

ADVICE & CONSENT of Mayor Hopkins’ appointment of Daniel E. Marcinko as Fire Chief; to be referred to Finance Committee January 13, 2025*   (vote may be taken)  

 

*    (motion may be made at the January 13, 2025 meeting to continue this matter to a Special Finance Committee  meeting to be held January 27, 2025)

 

RESOLUTION “Approving the transfer of land located at 4 Sharpe Drive to the City of Cranston in accordance with Section 2.08.080 of the City Code”; Sponsored by Mayor Hopkins; to be referred to Public Works Committee January 16, 2025  (vote may be taken)  [click to view]

 

MOTION made by Councilman Wall, SECONDED by Councilman Campopiano to take the two new business items as a block.

 

Ayes – 6  (Campopiano, Buonanno, Ritz, Traficante, Wall, Marino)

Nays - 0

 

MOTION made by Councilman Wall, SECONDED by Councilman Campopiano to approve both items of new business and refer them to their respective committees.

 

Ayes – 6  (Campopiano, Buonanno, Ritz, Traficante, Wall, Marino)

Nays - 0

 

V.         ADJOURNMENT   (vote may be taken)

 

MOTION made by Councilman Campopiano, SECONDED by Councilman Wall to adjourn at 5:23 P.M.   All Ayes
