NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL

 

Monday, September 18, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.

A Special Meeting of the City Council was held in the City of Cranston Council Chambers, Cranston City Hall, 869 Park Ave., Cranston, RI 02910, for the purpose of considering the following items listed on the agenda. Remote participation was also available.

I.                   CALL TO ORDER

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 P.M. by Council President Jessica M. Marino

 

II.                ROLL CALL

 

The roll was called by the Clerk.  Stated as present:  Councilman Richard D. Campopiano, Councilwoman Aniece Germain, Councilman Christopher G. Paplauskas, Council Vice-President Lammis J. Vargas, and Council President Jessica M. Marino.  Councilwoman Renzulli arrived at 7:07 P.M.  Absent:  Councilmen Robert D. Ferri and John P. Donegan.  Also present:  City Clerk Tracy Nelson; and (virtually) Atty. Stephen Angell, Legal Counsel and Atty. Christopher Rawson, Assistant City Solicitor.

 

III.             PUBLIC HEARINGS AND PUBLIC COMMENT

           

Council President Marino opened public hearing.  Mr. Lima recognized a caller via Zoom.  It was Atty. Angell.  He has no public comment.  He just wanted Council to be aware he was present. 

 

Council President Marino closed public hearing.

 

Council President Marino re-opened public hearing for another caller.  Mr. Lima recognized the caller.  It was Atty. Rawson.  He does not have any comment but is present as well.

 

Council President Marino re-closed public hearing at 7:05 P.M. 

 

 

IV.             CONSIDERATION OF SAFETY SERVICES COMMITTEE BUSINESS MATTERS

 

The Chair of Safety Services is not available this evening, but Council President Marino was in attendance at the meeting when the two licenses being considered tonight were approved by the Safety Services Committee.

 

APPROVAL OF CLASS BV LIQUOR LICENSES – NEW

 

1.  Topgolf USA CP, LLC d/b/a Topgolf located at 120 Sockanosset Cross Rd. 

            (Vote may be taken)   (Over the Cap; requires full Council approval)

 

MOTION made by Councilman Paplauskas, SECOND by Council Vice-President Vargas to approve Topgolf USA CP, LLC d/b/a Topgolf, located at 120 Sockanosset Cross Rd.

 

VOTE:  Ayes - 5  (Campopiano, Germain, Paplauskas, Vargas, and Marino) (unanimous)

 

Councilwoman Renzulli arrived at this time.

 

2.  Vanguarida, LLC d/b/a Ceviches by Divino located at 1000 Chapel View Blvd.  (Ali Quero)

            (Vote may be taken)   (Over the Cap; requires full Council approval)

 

MOTION made by Councilman Paplauskas, SECOND by Councilwoman Germain to approve.

 

VOTE:  Ayes - 6  (Renzulli, Campopiano, Germain, Paplauskas, Vargas, and Marino) (unanimous)

 

V.                ADJOURNMENT

 

MOTION made by Councilwoman Germain, SECOND by Council Vice-President Vargas to adjourn at 7:09 P.M.
