At 5:30 P.M.

 

A Meeting of the Central Falls Liquor Board was held on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers at 5:30 P.M.

 

1. Roll Call

 

Councilman Issa

Councilman Patino

Councilman Weber

Councilman Noury

Councilman Leger

Mayor Matthews

 

Councilman Leger chaired the meeting.

 

2. Hearing

 

Benjamin's III Inc.

D/b/a Benjamin's

722 Broad St.

 

Continued for violation on 12/21/01 after hours and for new violation on 1/11/02 after hours.

 

Chairman Leger opened the meeting to a Public Hearing.

 

Assistant City Solicitor Matthew Oliverio explained the violation.

 

Witness Officer Robert Gauvin of the Central Falls Police Department was sworn in and gave testimony and responded to questions.

 

John Almeida, the son of the owner and bartender, was sworn in and gave testimony and responded to questions.

 

Chairman Leger closed the Public Hearing.

 

Matthew Oliverio, Assistant City Solicitor advised the Board on what actions the Board could take relative to this issue.

 

Councilman Noury asked to question Mr. Holbrook.

 

Chairman Leger stated that the Public Hearing was closed.

 

Councilman Noury explained his reasons for requesting that Mr. Holbrook be qustioned.

 

Public Hearing was reopened by unanimous consent.

 

Mr. Holbrook was sworn in and answered the questions asked by Councilman Noury.

 

Public Hearing Closed.

 

The Board discussed the two violations in detail.

 

Motion to suspend the license for a period of 7 days for the violation of Dec. 21, 2001 and for the second violation of Jan. 11, 2002 for 7 days from March 4-10 2002 consecutively was made by Councilman Noury and seconded by Councilman Weber.
