TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 1991

CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT 8:00 P.M.

 

A Regular Meeting of the Central Falls Liquor Board was held on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers at 10:00 P.M.

Chairwoman Sandra Moreau presided.

 

Motion was made by Councilman Charbonneau and seconded by Mayor Lazieh to accept and place on file the minutes to the previous meetings.

Attorney Kevin Horan was present to represent the applicant. He related to the Board that this type of business has been at this location since 1933.

Attorney Horan also ke of Mr. Sherry's qualifications.

 

Chairwoman Moreau opened the meeting to a Public hearing. at 10:10 P.M. No comments. Public Hearing Closed at 10:12P.M. Mayor Lazieh questioned Mr. Sherry on possible changes. Mr. Sherry responded that it would be a restaurant type atmosphere.

 

Motion to grant this license was made by Councilman Charbonneau and seconded by Mayor Lazieh.

Chairwoman Moreau opened the meeting to a public hearing at 10:30 P.M.

 

Councilman Vaudreuil presented to the Board a petition objecting to the transfer of the license to this location. Received for record.

 

Robert Weber of 531 Hunt St. addressed the Board and stated that he was against the transfer.

 

Mr. Robichaud spoke against the transfer.

 

Mr. Frank Brochu spoke against the transfer.

 

Walter Laurie spoke against the transfer stating the parking problem and problems with the patrons of the bar for his opposition.

 

Councilman-elect Louis Paquette asked City Clerk Issa about the disposition of the existing license at that location.

 

Clerk Issa responded.

 

Councilman-elect Paquette questioned the City Solicitor.

 

Richard Muggle commented.

 

Mayor Lazieh commented on license disposition.

 

City Solicitor Muksian comented on the Dec. 1, 1991 deadline.

 

Mr. Weber commented.

 

Public Hearing closed at 10:55 P.M.

 

Councilman Vaudreuil questioned City Solicitor.

 

Mayor Lazieh commented.

 

Motion was made by Councilman Vaudreuil to deny a liquor establishment at this location. Seconded by Councilman Brousseau.

Mayor Lazieh                                       No, commented that it is no proper to deny without due notice and would like a determination on zoning on this issue.

 

Chairwoman Moreau responded that the Board has given ample notice on this issue, further she commented on the Rheaume License and the many delays and opportunities in that matter.

 

Councilman Vaudreuil commented on the no show of the applicant and asked where are their priorities.

 

Motion to deny carries 4 yes 1 no 1 absent.

 

Motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Charbonneau and seconded by Councilman Brousseau. All Agreed. So Voted. Time 11:15 P.M.
