I.       Roll Call Video

 

Council President Ferri requested City Clerk Alberto de Burgo to conduct the roll call.

·         Present: Councilpersons Tatiana Baena, Kevin Kazarian, Alberto Rivas Lugo, Anthony Solano.

·         Arrived at 6:03 p.m.: Councilperson Rafael Peguero.

·         Absent: Councilperson Laurilim Rosado-Martinez.

 

II.     Pledge of Allegiance Video

Council President Ferri led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

III.    Public Comment Video

John K. Welch, 159 Pidge Avenue, Pawtucket, addressed the Council regarding RIPTA and requested support for extending the R-Line.

 

IV.    Approval of Records Video

City Clerk Alberto de Burgo presented the Council with amended minutes to replace those included in the packet.

 

Councilperson Baena made a motion to approve the amended minutes collectively, seconded by Councilperson Peguero. The motion passed by a vote of 6–0.

Council President Ferri inquired if there were any questions concerning the financials. Hearing none, he requested a motion to approve the departmental financials collectively.

 

Councilperson Rivas-Lugo made the motion, seconded by Councilperson Kazarian. The motion passed by a vote of 6–0.

Central Falls City Assessor Dr. Daniel Ducharme addressed the City Council to explain the proposed abatements. After his presentation, he answered questions from Council members. A motion to approve the abatements was made by Councilperson Kazarian and seconded by Councilperson Rivas-Lugo. The motion passed unanimously, 6–0.

 

VII.   Schedule of Bills-Hearing and/or Consideration

a.   Ordinance Relating to the Mandatory Retirement Age of Police Officers and Firefighters-Introduction (Council President Ferri by Request) Video

Council President Ferri opened the Public Hearing. Feminia Figueroa, a childcare provider, addressed the Council regarding the Ordinance’s impact on childcare services. The Public Hearing was then closed.

 

Councilperson Rivas-Lugo moved to approve the Ordinance, seconded by Councilperson Kazarian. James Vandermillen, Director of Planning and Economic Development, responded to Council questions.

 

A roll call vote was taken: Baena – Yes; Kazarian – Yes; Peguero – Yes; Rivas-Lugo – Yes; Solano – Yes; Ferri – Yes. The motion passed unanimously.

 

VIII. Hearing and/or Consideration of Claims Video

a.   Claudine Osko

Pothole Claim: $300.00

The Council may vote on this item

 

Ms. Osko addressed the Council regarding the incident in question. Solicitor Jerzyk advised that the claim could be approved despite its late submission, referencing the Claims Ordinance.

Councilperson Rivas-Lugo moved to approve the claim, seconded by Councilperson Kazarian.

 

Roll call vote: Baena – Yes; Kazarian – Yes; Peguero – Yes; Rivas-Lugo – Yes; Solano – Yes; Ferri – Yes. Motion passed unanimously.

 

IX.    Adjournment Video

A motion to adjourn was made by Councilperson Rivas and seconded by Councilperson Kazarian. The meeting adjourned at 6:41 PM.
