City Council President Maria Rivera called the meeting to order at 6:01pm

 

I.       Roll Call

Sonia Grace, City Clerk, conducted the roll call. Present were Council President Maria Rivera, Councilman Jonathon Acosta, Councilman Robert Ferri, Councilman Hugo Figueroa, Councilman Franklin Solano, and Councilwoman Jessica Vega. Councilman Gus Silva was absent. Quorum was present.

 

II.     Pledge of Allegiance

Councilwoman Rivera led the reciting of the pledge of allegiance.

 

III.    Budget Address by Mayor James A. Diossa

Mayor James Diossa presented the FY21 Budget. Mayor Diossa spoke about the successes and challenges in creating this budget and highlighted no tax increases, no negative impact on services and the continued investment in pension funding. Mayor Diosa also spoke about the unprecedented times facing the city during the current Coronavirus pandemic.

A.   Annual Operating Budget Ordinance-General Fund - Introduction (Rivera)

F.   Ordinance Amending Chapter 32, "Streets, Sidewalks and Other Public Places," Article VIII "Sidewalk Cafe License” by adding Sec. 32-304 Temporary Outdoor Expansion of Premises License- First Reading (Rivera)

Public Hearing: No one signed up to speak

Matthew Jerzyk, City Solicitor, and Joshua Giraldo, Chief of Staff, reviewed the changes proposed in the ordinance and answered questions from the Council.

Roll call vote: Councilman Acosta: yes; Councilman Ferri: yes; Councilman Figueroa: yes; Councilman Silva: yes; Councilman Solano: yes; Councilwoman Vega: yes; Council President Rivera: yes. Motion carried 6-0.

 

G.  Resolution Declaring May 22, May 23 and May 24, 2020 as Restaurant Takeout Days in the City of Central Falls (Rivera)

 

V.      Adjournment

Motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Solano, seconded by Councilman Figueroa. Meeting adjourned at 5:44pm
