Minutes
Council President Bob Ferri called the meeting to order at the Central Falls City Council Chambers at 6:05 pm.
Sonia Grace, City Clerk, conducted the roll call. Present were Councilman Bob Ferri, Councilman Jonathon Acosta, Councilman Hugo Figueroa, Councilwoman Carlene Fonseca, Councilman Thomas Lazieh, Councilwoman Maria Rivera, and Councilman Franklin Solano. Quorum was present.
Councilman Ferri led the reciting of the pledge of allegiance
Edna Poulin, 68 Notre Dame St.- spoke about the surplus, questioned over and underspending by departments and the amount still owed by the City for receivership costs.
Tia Ristaino-Siegel, 14 Worth St.- shared her concern about the burden to tax payers and the sustainability of the city’s financial health. Ms. Ristaino-Siegel also questioned the audit regarding amounts owed to the state for receivership costs.
Lorraine Savard, 76 Emmett- asked about the schedule of council meetings on public access TV.
FY2017 Audit Review by James Prescott, Partner of Marcum, LLC
Mr. James Prescott and Ms. Erica Olobri of Marcum LLC, presented results from the FY17 Audit. Mr. Prescott and Ms. Olobri answered questions regarding department-specific expenses, revenue and expense differences, the audit of federal grants funds and provided a review of the recommendations to be submitted to the administration.
Councilman Lazieh: spoke about the Red Cross event in which residents can receive free smoke detectors.
Motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Solano, seconded by Councilman Lazieh. Meeting adjourned at 8:48pm.
