Joint Session with the City Council
A meeting of the State Receiver’s Council Hearing Officer was held on the above date; in the Council Chambers at 6:05pm John F. McJennett III the Receiver was present.
Mr. Orsen,Esq. was present.
1. Roll Call- Mr. John McJennett III present.
2. Pledge of Allegiance- was led by Mr. McJennett III.
3. 5 Year Plan Workshop-- from Various Departments on the Five Year Financial Projections
A. Major Mendonca-Police and Police sub-departments (dispatch, Animal Control Clerks, etc.)
Major Mendonca was present an spoke about how the 5 year plan affected the Police department. He spoke of difficulties in staffing and shortfalls in the department. He spoke about Capital improvements that are needed in the building. He gave an overall update on the status of the department and handed out a report with an organizational chart. More discussion ensued.
B. Acting Chief John Garvey-Fire and EMA Departments
Battalion Chief Robert Bradley was present and spoke of how the receivership has affected the Fire Department. He also handed out a report. He gave an overall update on the status of the department. He also spoke of Capital improvements that are necessary. He also spoke of the Equipment that may be needed like a fire truck. More discussion ensued.
C. Joe Nield- Department of Public Works
Joe Nield of the DPW was present and spoke of necessary equipment that would be necessary in highway would continue to pick up rubbish. He gave a handed out an overview of the department and explained the work of the department. How the work was integrated with other departments. Questions were asked regarding overflow or run offs at the Detention facility. More discussion ensued.
4. Adjourn--Mr. McJennett III made a motion to adjourn at 7:20pm.
