Motion to accept and place on file items A through C made by Councilor Aubin and seconded by Councilor Szlastha.  All Agreed.  So voted. 3-0

 

5.    Swearing In Ceremony of Municipal Court Judges.

Attorney Montelbono was present and gave the oath of Office to Raymond Cooney, Esq. as Municipal Court Judge.

 

6.    Public Hearing and possible vote for Byrne/JAG Grant. (requested by Police Department)

Colonel Moran was present and spoke to the Council of how this grant would be used to help the City.  Public hearing opened.  No comments. Councilor Benson closed the Public hearing.

 

7.    License

a).  New Peddler Badge (tabled at last meeting)

Seth Lyle -55 Bacon St. (to work with Palagi's Ice Cream)

Mr. Lyle was present, and stated he was working for Palagi’s Ice cream.

Motion to approve the was made by Councilor Szlastha, seconded by Councilor Aubin, chair votes yes. All agreed. So voted. 3-0

 

b).  Public Hearing- New- Petition for Extended hours

6am-2am Thurs. thru Sat.

Janco Central, Inc.

d/b/a Burger King # 4983

800 Lonsdale Ave.

Peter Gendreau was representing Burger King and stated it was for the drive up only to be extended until 2:00 am.

Motion to approve was made by Councilor Szlastha, seconded by Councilor Aubin, chair votes yes. All agreed. So voted. 3-0

 

c)   Permit -Raffle and Annual Feast

Motion to approve was made by Councilor Szlastha, seconded by Councilor Aubin, chair votes yes. All agreed. So voted. 3-0

Motion to approve was made by Councilor Szlastha, seconded by Councilor Aubin, chair votes yes. All agreed. So voted. 3-0

 

e).  Retail Sales

Motion to approve was made by Councilor Szlastha, seconded by Councilor Aubin, chair votes yes. All agreed. So voted. 3-0

 

f).  Permit-Summer festival sale with music and DJ and with amplification. (1 day entertainment)

Blackstone Valley Merchants Association

501 Roosevelt Ave (Broad St., Dexter St. & Lonsdale Ave.)

Motion to table until July 8, 2008 was made by Councilor Szlastha, seconded by Councilor Aubin, chair votes yes. All agreed. So voted. 3-0

 

7.    Blackstone Valley Tourism Council presentation on Broad Street Regeneration Initiative.

Bob Billington from Blackstone Valley Tourism came in and gave a presentation on what was going on with the tour boats and area businesses.

 

8.    Mayor's Comments

- Mayor Moreau was not present.

 

9.    Resolution

Authorization to allow Mr. Beardsley of RI League of Cities & Towns to Act as Agent for City of Central Falls for RI Energy Aggregation program.

Motion to approve was made by Councilor Szlastha, seconded by Councilor Aubin, chair votes yes. All agreed. So voted. 3-0

 

10.  Public Hearing on Tax Stabilization for Property owned by Taio Associates LP, located at 521 Roosevelt Avenue.

Motion to continue until July 8, 2008 was made by Councilor Aubin, seconded by Councilor Szlastha, chair votes yes. All agreed. So voted. 3-0

 

10. Ordinance/ Introduction

a)   Amending the Ordinance pertaining to Vicious Dogs. (at the request of Councilor Benson.)

Motion to approve was made by Councilor Szlastha, seconded by Councilor Aubin, chair votes yes. All agreed. So voted. 3-0 So Introduced.

 

11.  Ordinance/ Public Hearing Final Passage

a)   Amending Section 36-55 of the Revised Ordinance entitled "Homestead exemption"

Motion to approve was made by Councilor Aubin, seconded by Councilor Szlastha, chair votes yes. All agreed. So voted. 3-0

 

b)   An Ordinance Regulating the Use of Public Parks in the City of Central falls.

Motion to approve was made by Councilor Aubin, there was no second, it was called three times, and motion dies.
