The Central Falls City Council held a Workshop on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers at 6:15 p.m.
Members present: Councilman Silva, Councilman Leger, Councilman Patino and Councilman Benson.
Councilman Leger chaired the workshop.
The purpose of the workshop was to review the open meetings laws, the open records law and the ethic laws.
The City Clerk gave a brief overview on the open meetings law. She gave incidents that allowed for closed meetings. She stated that the public body must be aware of not only the public’s right to know but also the individual’s right to privacy.
She advised that members of the Council should not give the appearance of meeting together in a quorum when a meeting has not been posted. She also related that the public body is responsible for making sure that a meeting has been properly posted and that proper notice has been given.
Robert’s Rules were discussed briefly as well as the Charter and Code.
The workshop adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
