The Ordinance Committee met on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers at 5:00 p.m.
1. Roll Call
Councilman Benson
Councilman Patino
Present. Councilman Patino chaired the meeting.
2. Discussion
A. An Ordinance entitled “Police Protection Services”.
Councilman Benson and Councilman Patino discussed the Ordinance in detail.
The Committee stated that this Ordinance is supported by the Chief and that this is a quality of life ordinance. The committee stated it would recommend passage of this Ordinance to the Council.
B. An Ordinance Amending Chapter 7 Article 1 of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Central Falls regarding dogs and other animals.
Present for this ordinance was the Animal Control Officer and members of the Animal rights group.
The Committee discussed in detail the impact this ordinance would have on the residents of the City.
Councilman Benson stated that he proposed the Ordinance as a safeguard to the same Ordinance passed in Pawtucket. He stated that if the City took no action there is the potential for many Pawtucket residents to place their animals with relatives or friends in Central Falls. He stated that this could potentially create the same problems that the City of Pawtucket has with these animals.
After a lengthy discussion the committee will recommend passage of this ordinance.
