Finance Committee Workshop

@ 3:30 p.m.

 

A meeting of the Finance Committee was held on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers at 3:30 p.m.

 

Chairman Leger conducted the meeting also present was Councilman Patino.

 

1.  Discussion 2003/2004 Budget

 

Chairman Leger questioned the Highway Director regarding the proposed budget. Discussion centered around salaries, summer employment and overtime.

 

Discussion took place regarding winter road treatment, road repair as well as sidewalk repair.

 

Traffic controls and hydrants were also discussed.

 

The proposed public works building relocation was discussed.  This relocation is expected to be a 3-year project depending on grants. 

 

Discussion also took place regarding the trash pick-up contract and the possibility of a lease purchase of trucks in case the City should do trash pick-up in house.

 

Councilman Patino commented on speed bumps being placed on certain streets to slow down speeders.

 

Mr. Granieri stated that this was tried in other Cities. He said that more often than not it created more problems than it solved. He stated that there are what is called temporary seasonal bumps which were used in Providence and that they worked very well.

 

2.  Other Fiscal Discussions

 

Mr. Kuzmiski discussed the Special Revenue Funds which was created in June 1995.

 

Discussion took place regarding Medicare, public funds, and other revenues.

Finance Committee Meeting April 14, 2003

 

Minutes from the above meeting was accepted and placed on file.
