at the Rise of the Liquor Board
A special meeting of the Central Falls City Council was held on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers immediately following the Liquor Board meeting.

Quorum present.
Council President Robert Weber presided.
1. Town of Hopkinton-Resolution in opposition to the expansion of Video Lottery Terminals.
Motion to accept and place on file was made by Councilman Issa and seconded by Councilman Patino. All Agreed. So Voted.
Council President Weber stated that all taxes have been paid to date and that the petitioner is asking that the Council rescind its order to suspend the license.
Motion to rescind was made by Councilman Patino and seconded by Councilman Issa.
Councilman Leger stated that he doesn’t like the fact that a business doesn’t pay their taxes on a regular business and that in effect this allows for an extended period of time when others pay on time. He stated that the Council will look into this issue. Councilman Issa agreed that some policy should be established to deal with this. He stated that the Council must address the issue of unpaid taxes.

Council President Weber stated that in considering this license issue the Council must set up a penalty that will deal with the issue of licensing and taxes and charged Councilman Patino, Chair of the Ordinance Committee to research the issue. Council President Weber stated that to have a license to do business is a privilege. He stated that it’s not a right that the Clerk’s Office should have this burden with its limited staff without the support from the Council to help them deal with this problem.
Motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Issa and seconded by Councilman Patino.
