A Special Meeting of the Central Falls City Council was held on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m.

Council President Noury presided and led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Councilman Lazieh to Dr. Maureen Chevrette, Superintendent of Schools.

 

Motion to accept and place on file was made by Councilman Leger and seconded by Councilwoman Canavan. All Agreed. So Voted.

A) First Passage

 

1. An Ordinance Amending Section 1 of the Homestead Exemption. (Introduced by Mayor Matthews)

2. An Ordinance pertaining to Salaries of Department Heads & Others in unclassified service.

6. The Annual Operating Budget Ordinance.

 

Motion to table items 1-2-6 was made by Councilwoman Canavan and seconded by Councilman Leger and Councilman Robichaud.

All Agreed. So Voted.

 

3. An Ordinance pertaining to Salaries of Police Officers and Firefighters.

 

Motion to approve was made by Councilwoman Canavan and seconded by Councilman Leger. All Agreed. So Voted.

 

4. An Ordinance Amending Wage Schedule Generally.

 

Motion to approve was made by Councilwoman Canavan and seconded by Councilman Leger. All Agreed. So Voted.

 

5. An Ordinance Establishing the Maximum Number of Employees in the City Departments FY 2001-2002.

 

Motion to amend Section 3 to read "The number of employees in the Department of Law shall not exceed 4." was made by Councilwoman Canavan and seconded by Councilman Leger. All Agreed. So Voted.

 

Motion to approve as amended was made by Councilwoman Canavan and seconded by Councilman Leger. All Agreed. So Voted.

 

7. An Ordinance Amending Chapter 36, Taxation, Article III, "Property Tax Exemption." (Introduced by Councilman Lazieh)

 

Councilwoman Canavan commented and motion to deny. Motion seconded by Councilman Robichaud.

 

Councilman Lazieh asked that the motion be amended to defer action.

 

Council President Noury stated that he's only concern is that there need to be General Assembly approval.
