A Meeting of the Central Falls City Council was held on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m.

2. Pledge of Allegiance

 

Council President Robert Canavan presided and led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.

4. City Officer's Report

 

Police Department Report -November, 1999

Code Enforcement Report -November, 1999

Municipal Court Report -October/November, 1999

Revenue & expense Report unaudited July/August/September/October 1999.

 

Motion to accept collectively and place on file was made by Councilman Ferri and seconded by Councilwoman Moreau.

 

Councilman Weber noted for the record that all the reports are in and thanked the clerk for her memo to the Department Heads relative to Council reports.

 

All Agreed. So Voted.

 

Councilman Ferri complimented the Code Enforcement Department on the Recycling report and enforcement relative to this program.

 

5. Correspondence

 

Memo from Elizabeth Crowley to All Departments re: Reports to Council Casino 2000 re: Rhode Island Casino Gambling.

 

Motion to accept collectively and place on file was made by Councilman Weber and seconded by Councilwoman Moreau. All Agreed. So Voted.

 

6. Presentation

 

Rhode Island Statewide Planning/Presentation of Certificate to the City of Central Falls of the Comprehensive Community Plan by Mr. John O'Brien, Chief of Statewide Planning.

 

Mr. O'Brien addressed the Council and explained the criteria used in order to attain this Recognition. The Certificate was then presented to Elaine Partridge of the Planning Department.

 

Presentation of Certificates -Central Falls Panthers 1999 State Champions

 

Councilman Weber presented the Certificates and congratulated the team , coaches, cheerleaders and organizers.

 

7. Abatements

 

Anthony Harraka, City Assessor-Re: Abatement

 

Councilman Weber asked the Assessor what the duties of the Board of Appeals is and how they determine the issues.

 

Discussion continued on this process.

Councilman Weber expressed his gratitude and warm wishes to the Commander on his many years of service to the City.

 

Councilwoman Moreau expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the Commander for his many years of service. All agreed. So Voted.

Captain Hunt School raffle for the benefit of Captain Hunt School December 1999.

 

Motion to approve was made by Councilwoman Moreau and seconded by Councilman Weber. All Agreed. So Voted.

 

14. Resolutions

 

Reserving certain sums from the 98-99 budget and transferring them to the Capital Expenditure Reserve Fund. (tabled 11/22/99)

Resolution of Condolence to the Family of the Late Pauline Casto

 

Motion to approve collectively was made by Councilwoman Moreau and seconded by Councilman Weber. All Agreed. So Voted.

 

Resolution commending "B Platoon" under the command of Acting Battalion Chief Steven Lally for the fire on Nickerson & Broad St.

 

Motion to approve collectively was made Councilman Weber and seconded by Councilman Ferri. Resolutions presented to each firefighter by Councilwoman Moreau. Unanimously Approved.

 

Resolution congratulating the Central Falls Panthers Football team State Champions

 

Certificates presented by Councilman Weber. Unanimously approved.
