REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 28, 1999
CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT 7:00 P.M.
A Regular Meeting of the Central Falls City Council was held on the above date in the Central Falls City Hall at 7:05 p.m.

Quorum present.
Council President Robert Canavan presided and led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Matthews introduced the Chief of Police Alan DeNaro to the Council and the Assembly.
Council Members welcomed the Chief.
Chief DeNaro commented on his appointment and stated that he has been warmly welcomed to the City by the Staff and Citizens of the City. He related that he is
eager to get to know every and to bring his views to the Department and the City.
A) Town of North Kingstown re: Resolution opposing casino gambling in the Town of West Warwick.
B) City of East Providence re:
1.) Resolution requesting the reinstatement of necessary Funding for the regulated collection of used motor oil program.
2.) Resolution requesting the reinstatement of necessary funding for the Summer Youth Litter Corps. Program.
Motion to accept collectively and place on file was made by Councilman Noury and seconded by Councilman Weber and Councilman Ferri. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no 1 absent.
Resolution Recognizing Arbor Day 1999
Motion to approve was made by Councilman Weber and seconded by Councilman Noury. All agreed. So Voted.
Leo Leclerc commented on the Rhode Island Tree Council's theme of "Trees are Terrific" poster contest which involved the Central Falls Public School 5th grade class instructed by Barbara Merredan.
Guy Lefave spoke on the tree program and Arbor Day Poster Contest and this year's winners. Mr. Lefave presented the teacher with this year's award for third place, a check in the amount of $50.00 for supplies.

Motion to approve collectively was made by Councilman Weber and seconded by Councilman Noury. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no 1 absent.

Councilman Weber explained that he has been approached by several members of the neighborhood and is strongly against using this facility for this purpose.
Motion to deny was made by Councilman Weber and seconded by Councilman Noury.
Motion carried 4 yes 0 no 1 absent.
A) Holy Spirit Catholic Community

Annual Parish Festival & Raffles at St. Matthew Church
May 14 & 15 11am-11pm
Motion to approve was made by Councilman Weber and seconded by Councilman Noury and Councilman Ferri. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no 1 absent.
An Ordinance Amending Chapter 8 of the Revised Ordinances entitled "Animals." At the request of Councilwoman Moreau. So Introduced.
An Ordinance entitled "Rental Inspection Certification"
Motion to approve was made by Councilman Noury an seconded by Councilman Weber.
Councilman Noury asked the Clerk to invited Donald Houle, Code Enforcement Director to the next City Council Meeting. Motion carried 4 yes 0 no 1 absent.
Council President Canavan stated that Mr. Lussier has supplied some information for the Claims Committee.
Councilman Noury asked that the information be presented to the Claims Committee at the May 10th meeting.
Audit Committee
City Council President Robert recessed the Meeting at 7:40 p.m. for the Audit Committee Meeting.
The Council resumed its meeting at 9:01 p.m.
The Council having no further business adjourned on Motion made by Councilman Weber at 9:02 p.m.
