A Special Meeting of the Central Falls City Council was held on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m.

Council President Canavan presided and led the Assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Ordinance (Public Hearing/Final Passage

 

An Ordinance amending Section 19-46 (a) of the revised ordinance of the City of Central Falls.

 

Councilman Farrell motioned to amend that in case of an emergency situation within the City the position does not have to be bid.  Motion seconded by Councilman Aunchman.

 

Councilman Farrell explained the amendment.

Council President Canavan opened the meeting to a Public Hearing. No comments.

 

Public Hearing closed.

 

Motion to approve as amended was made by Councilman Weber and seconded by Councilman Ferri.

Councilman Ferri commented on the CAN system.

 

Mayor Matthews stated that on June 30th from 10am-Noon Hedco would sponsor a Rabies Clinic for cats only free of charge.  He also commented on an ordinance relative to sidewalks and blocking.

 

Council President Canavan asked that an ordinance be drafted to prevent signs that on the sidewalk. He said he does not like the way they look.

 

Mayor Matthews commented on the different items that block the sidewalk and that they are becoming a hindrance to wheelchairs and pedestrians.

 

Council President Canavan questioned the red light on the corner of Cowden and Illinois Street.

 

Mayor Matthews explained the delay in resetting the light. He said there is a defect in the box and that the part is ordered and under warranty.

 

Council President Canavan commented on Washington & Cowden Street light and asked if it would remain a regular red light.

 

Mayor Matthews explained the lights and how they are coordinated with the Fire Department.

 

The meeting recessed for 5 minutes.

 

Council President Canavan explained the Meeting Schedules.

 

Monday at 6:00 pm Special.

Wednesday at 7:00 pm Special.

 

Mayor Matthews updated the Council on the trailers on High Street.

 

Councilman Weber invited the Council to the Little League game.

 

Motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Ferri and seconded by Councilman Farrell.
