CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 1992
A City Council Workshop was held on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers at 7:00 P.M.
Present:

Councilman Ferri
Councilman Canavan
Councilman Paquette
Councilwoman Moreau
Robert W. Moreau, City Assessor was invited to attend this workshop to inform the Council of his duties.
Mr. Moreau explained the duties of the Assessor's Office. He related that the City Assessor was under the Finance Office and was regulated by the State. He explained the tax base and the categories under which he taxes property. He related that his Department worked closely with the Finance Office and Zoning Department.
Mr. Moreau spoke on the State mandated revaluation and the cost to the City. He spoke on the drop of property values because of the economic situation.
Council Members questioned Mr. Moreau on computerization of his Office and related cost. Mr. Moreau related that at present most operations relative to property changes was being done manually.
Daniel J. Issa, City Clerk addressed the City Council and related the duties of the Clerk's Office. He spoke on the manpower requirements and the present staff. He also related that most functions in the Office were done manually.
City Clerk Issa responded to various questions asked by the members of the Council. He also presented the Council with applications received for City Council appointments.
