FRIDAY, JUNE 1, 1990

 

A Special City Council Meeting was held in the City Council Chambers in City Hall on the above date at 7:10 P.M.

Council President Albert O Baroche presided.

1. Resolution Authorizing the Mayor and the President of the City Council to sign a contract between the City of Central FAlls and Local 1627, AFSCME, Council 94, representing the Highway workers, City Hall, Library and Police Clerks.

5. Resolution In Support of School Regionalization in Central Falls and Pawtucket.

Motion to approve was made by Councilman Sienkiewicz and seconded by Councilman Vaudreuil. Unanimously Approved. Council President Laroche commented on the resolution.

 

6. Resolution regarding School Bonds and Proceeds thereof.

 

City Clerk Daniel J. Issa read Resolution.

 

Letter from Norman Bergeron, Vice Chairman of School Committee was read by City Council President Albert O. Laroche.

 

City Council President read a prepared statement which stated that due to the significant financial impact on the City, School Committee and School Building Committee, he would request that the Resolution be tabled until such time as the mentioned parties have an opportunity to meet to address all areas of concern both legally and financially.

 

Councilman Charbonneau made a motion to table the Resolution. Councilman Sienkiewicz seconded the motion.

 

Under discussion, Mayor Lazieh commented on the Resolution. Penny Register, Bond Counsel, was present to answer questions regarding bonds or the Resolution.

 

No questions were asked of her.

Motion carried: 4 yes 0 no 1 abstention.

 

Councilwoman Moreau asked a question during the vote.

 

Council Members and Mayor Lazieh commented. Mayor Lazieh stated that $4.00 four dollars would be added to the tax rate if this Resolution wasn't pased.

 

Mayor Lazieh asked Bond Counsel to speak.

 

Penny Register from Tillinghast, Collins and Graham was present to speak.

 

Motion was made by Councilman Sienkiewicz and seconded by Councilman Charbonneau to end discussion on motion. All Agreed. So Voted.

 

ITINERANT RESTAURANT

 

Evelyn Resto-Itinerant Restaurant for Sat. & Sun. at Higginson Ave.

Sports Complex for Baseball Games. deferred 4/9/90 Council Meeting.

 

Motion to defer was made by Councilwoman Moreau and seconded by Councilman Charbonneau. All Agreed. So Voted.

 

Motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Sienkiewicz and seconded by Councilman Charbonneau. All Agreed. So Voted. Time 8:30 P.M.
