A meeting of the Central Falls Claims Committee was held on the above date, in the Council Chambers at 7:35 pm William Benson Jr.  Councilor Szlastha Presided.

2.   Minutes

February 11, 2008

 

Motion to accept and place on file was made by Councilor Aubin, seconded by Councilor Delahoz. All agreed. So voted. 5-0.

 

3.   Correspondence

Re: 129 Garfield St. Central Falls.- Meeting Notice

Motion to accept and place on file made by Councilor Delehoz and seconded by Councilor Aubin.  All Agreed.  So voted. 5-0

 

4.   Public Comments

There was none.

 

5.   Claims For Damages under $2500.00

 

a.   Realty East of 820 Atwells Ave. Prov. Re: 129 Garfield St. C. F. - for alleged damages to the doors of their property in Central Falls  due to the Police Dept.  Investigating a shooting.

No one was present for this claim.

Motion to TABLE  was made by Councilor Benson, seconded by Councilor Delahoz. All agreed. So voted. 5-0

 

b.   Noor Memon of 1Monach Way, Lincoln.- for alleged damages to tire due to a pot hole while traveling on High St.,  January 17, 2008.

Mr. and Mrs. Memon was present.  They explained how they damaged their tire.

Jack Gannon of the Law department was present, and asked for an extension because he did not have time to review the claim.

Discussion took place amoung the Council that they would not need to reappear.  The decision would be rendered next meeting.

 

Motion to TABLE  was made by Councilor Benson, seconded by Councilor Delahoz and Councilor Crowley. All agreed. So voted. 5-0

 

c.   Eugenia Pereira of 10 Lewis St., C.F.-for alleged damages to tire due to a pot hole while traveling on Dexter St. on 12/30/08.( TABLED from February 11, 2008).  At first no one showed, then later in the meeting Ms. Pereira showed up.

 

Motion to TABLE  was made by Councilor Benson, seconded by Councilor Delahoz and Councilor Crowley. All agreed. So voted. 5-0

 

Motion to remove this item from the TABLE was made by Councilor Benson, seconded by Councilor Delahoz and Councilor Crowley. All agreed. So voted. 5-0

Ms. Pereira described how the tire incident happened.

 

Motion to approve in the amount of $166.36 was made by Councilor Aubin, seconded by Councilor Delahoz. All agreed. So voted. 5-0

 

6.   Claims For Damages over $ 2500.00 –(to be referred to Interlocal)

 

a.   Andrea Cancel Santiago of 250 Rand St. for  Alleged slip and fall before the intersection of Rand St. and Pine St. on December 11, 2007.

b.   Evelyn C. Palma of 34 Major St. Attleboro, Ma. for alleged injuries sustaied while being struck by a police vehicle on Cowden St. on January 1, 2008.

Motion to refer items a through b to the Trust was made by Councilor Benson, seconded by Councilor Delahoz. All agreed. So voted. 5-0
