Meeting of the Central Falls Claims Committee was held on the above date in the City Hall Council Chambers at 6:40 p.m.

Motion to accept and place on file was made by Councilman Noury and seconded by Councilman Leger. All Agreed. So Voted.
Bucky's Appliance & Floor Covering 1269 Broad St. for damages to window allegedly made by snowplow on March 5, 2001.
Motion to pay the claim in the amount of 296.55 was made Councilman Leger and seconded by Councilman Noury. All Agreed. So Voted.
Jim Gity 755 Dexter St., for damages to window allegedly made by plow. Two claims filed for 2 windows in same building. Mr. Gity was present to relate what happened and to claim for damages in the amount of $350.00 each for the windows.
Council members questioned Mr. Gity
Councilwoman Canavan asked that the Committee waive the 3 estimate rule.
Motion to pay $700.00 for both windows was made by Councilwoman Canavan and seconded by Councilman Leger. All Agreed. So Voted.
Joe Dalomba d/b/a High Tech-888 Lonsdale Avenue for damages to window allegedly made by plow. Motion to pay the claim in the lowest amount of $447.00 was made by Councilwoman Canavan and seconded by Councilman. All Agreed. So Voted.
Menise Kucukkaya d/b/a Menise Tailor Shop at 1269 Broad St. for damage to window allegedly made by plow.Council members questioned Ms. Kucukkaya. She gave the Committee a brief description of the total amount of damages caused when the window was broken. She estimated the damages as follows:
$593.10 glass
165.00 sign
450.00 lettering
150.00 cleaners
85.00 chain sign
for a total of $1443.10
Council members asked if she has receipts or estimates for all she is claiming. Mrs. Kucukkaya stated she had receipts for the glass and the cleaners.
Motion to pay $743.10 for the glass and cleaners was made by Councilwoman Canavan and seconded by Councilman Leger.
Councilman Lazieh recommended and motioned that the Council authorize the Solicitor to negotiate a settlement for these claims. No second.
On the motion to pay $743.10 all agreed. So voted. Councilman Noury stated that the committee would act on the remainder of the claim when Mrs. Kucukkaya submitted 3 estimates for the painting and the sign.
Arlene Renaud for damages to her glasses and for the medical payment for her injuries $308.33. Mrs. Renaud explained that she was walking by Sparkey's when she tripped on a hole in the sidewalk and fell scraping herself and scratching her glasses.
Motion to pay the claim in the amount of $308.33 was made by Councilman Leger and seconded by Councilwoman Canavan. All Agreed. So Voted.
Anthony M. Devecchis of 418 Wickenden St. for damages incurred to his vehicle while parked unattended on 19 Crossman St. 2/21/00 by police vehicle.
Motion to table was made by Councilman and seconded by Councilman Leger. All Agreed. So Voted.
Claims & Pending suits filed with Athe Trust@.
Elvia Guerrero for alleged damages incurring on a slip and fall at 668 Broad St.
Motion to refer to the Trust was made by Councilman Noury and seconded by Councilman Leger. All Agreed. So Voted.
Councilman Lazieh commented on the Solicitor's opinion regarding the proper forum for to the pending claims & suits and their status. He stated that he specifically asked that this be placed on this agenda. He commented on RIGL 45-15-5 referring to settlement of claims against the City.
